Agree or disagree: Japan will benefit overall from hosing the 2020 Summer Olympics

To many countries, hosting the Olympic Games is a dream come true. In reality, however, it almost inevitably puts the host city in debt, results in wasted infrastructure, and puts a huge burden on local citizens, and this will surely happen in Japan.

Hosting the Olympics requires an immense financial investment. It is notoriously impossible to stay within budget, and as expenditures increase, so will Tokyo's debt. This will make it harder for the government to invest in beneficial things such as education and healthcare going forward. The billions of dollars spent on the Olympics would be better used in ways that improve the lives of citizens in Japan.

Infrastructure is another reason hosting the Olympics will be disadvantageous. Huge amounts are being spent on constructing new facilities such as stadium venues and train stations, many of which will fall into disuse after the Olympics. These will continue to drain taxpayers' pockets as they will require regular maintenance.

Finally, the Olympics will create numerous problems for residents. Security and logistics measures taken to expedite athletes' transportation will result in street closures that hurt local businesses. Throngs of tourists will create huge traffic jams and crowd public transportation, and the loud, celebratory atmosphere will get in the way of citizens' daily routines.

While many people enjoy the Olympic Games, the overall effect they have on the host country is negative. The various economic consequences and inconvenience to local citizens are certainly best avoided.

I agree that Japan will benefit overall from hosing the 2020 Summer Olympics.

I have three reasons.
1. We will share good memories.
2. We can promote our culture.
3. The Olympic Games will encourage us to learn foreign languages.

I'd like to spell out about it.

First, I think if we host the event, we will have same experience. For example, we will watch games, read articles and talk about games and athletes etc. I think that we will be able to feel bonds with everyone.
During and after the event we will have a lot of great pleasure.

Second, it's perfect timing. We promote our culture. We have special and unique culture, such as traditional craft products, manga and anime and Japanese cuisine. Many foreigners are interested in our culture.

Third, during the event many foreigners will come to Japan. We will have a good opportunity to talk with foreigners. People will be encouraged to learn other languages. I think especially the young can strongly feel the importance of English.

I agree with the opinion that Japan will benefit over all from hosting the 2020 Summer Olympics.
I will give two reasons.

First, it is good opportunity to earn much money. When the Olympics hold in Japan, a lot of foreigners come to Japan. The Japan government and many Japanese companies expect that they visit not only Tokyo but also other places to go sightseeing such as Kyoto, Osaka and Hokkaido. So Japan has a big chance for increasing economics.

Second, though today Japan called an economic power in the world, I think Japanese English skill is poor. However, Japan has chance to change the international country. “Omotenashi” is Japanese policy. If a foreigner want us to help, it’s better to speak English than speak Japanese. Because English is the official language in the world. That is why Japanese should study more English to do “Omotenashi.”

For these reasons, I welcome this event for Japan. I can’t wait for 2020.

I agree that Japan will benefit overall from hosting the 2020 Summer Olympics. I have three reasons.

First, if many foreign people come to Japan, they can spend a lot of money for shopping or sightseeing. It is useful for Japanese economic situation. Many Japanese have been worried about the budget for the event. The government might even have to raise taxes to fund it.
Therefore gaining income from foreign people is important.

Second, by having various venues for sports, Japan will be able to invite more sport festivals or competitions such as world’s cup. I think it will make minor sports more famous.

Third, it will become a great opportunity to show Japanese spirit. For example, we are polite, diligent and have deep hospitality. I believe that these are attractive for foreign people.

For these reasons, I agree that Japan will benefit overall form hosting the 2020 Summer Olympics.

I agree that Japan will benefit overall from hosting the 2020 Summer Olympics.

First, it’s a very rare chance to see a lot of famous athletes gathering in one place. You only have one or two opportunities that Olympics is held in your country. No matter where these athletes are from, their performances will definitely give people so much power and energy to live on. Such a positive situation will make society bright and sunny.

Second, a huge number of tourists will come to Japan from abroad. And they may already know about our culture watching through You Tube or something. But I’m sure that the way we will treat them will be much more than they expect in a good way.

Even if we can’t communicate well with each other in English, our politeness and hospitality will wow and amaze foreign visitors. Spreading Japanese culture to all over the world will be a great stimulation for its economy.

Third, if many Japanese athletes get medals, the population of sports will increase. If the sports association earns more revenue, athletes can practice in a better facility and focus on what they need to do. That will help them prepare for the next Olympics and win medals. Giving children hopes and dreams is necessity for education.

I agree that Japan will benefit from hosting the Olympics in 2020. While there might be a few disadvantages from doing so, I think the advantages will be far greater. I have three reasons to support my opinion.

First, hosting the Olympics gives dreams to athletes and children in Japan. Many Japanese athletes are extra motivated to show great performance to the home crowds. If children see them perform well and win medals, it will give them hope and inspire them to work hard to become future medalists themselves.

Second, the Olympics will be a great opportunity for Japan to showcase its good points to the rest of the world. During the event, a record number of people are expected to visit Japan from across the planet and experience what the country has to offer. That includes not only its culture, sightseeing spots, and food but also its convenient public transportation systems and clean public toilets. When they return home, they will spread good words about our country.

Third, it will lead to an overall improvement in Japanese people’s English ability. The Olympics will provide valuable opportunities to use English. That’s why many Japanese people are studying English hard right now. Consequently, more people will likely become better English speakers, which in turn will help make Japan a more international country and boost its competitiveness on the global stage.

For these reasons, I believe that hosting the 2020 Olympics will greatly benefit Japan.
